What happens and when

From your first phone call to your last visit is about eight months. Five of those visits are in person; the rest are phone calls.

Before you start

Screening takes up to 30 days: blood tests, an ECG, a heart ultrasound, a CT scan of the chest, a six-minute walk test, and a right heart catheterization. A coordinator teaches you how to give the injection.

While you are on treatment

You inject once a day at home. You come in at Weeks 4, 12 and 24, and a coordinator phones at Weeks 2, 8, 16 and 20 to ask how you are feeling. Your usual PAH medicines continue unchanged.

After the injections stop

At Week 24 the injections end. Phone calls continue at Weeks 25, 26 and 27, and you return once more at Week 28 so the team can see what the treatment left behind.
